The Full Licensing Committee decided that a simplified hackney carriage tariff will be put in place to make it easier for the travelling public to understand. This will take into account the removal of the “extras” system and moves towards a simplified rate structure.
All hackney carriage proprietors were encouraged to participate in the hackney carriage fare tariff chart consultation process which was posted out to all hackney carriage proprieters. It should be noted that the Full Licensing Committee has already agreed the form of the future fare tariff card and your views are being sought as the levels at which any tariff should be set.
Feedback
Approximately 1000 people were consulted via the Citizens Panel on the Hackney Carriage tariff. A series of consultation meetings with the Taxi and Private Hire Trade via questionnaires (90 proprietors) and a series of face to face partnership meetings with key representatives of the Trade, East Sussex County Council, Sussex Police, members of the Disability Involvement Group were held.
