Consultation closed on 09/07/2006
Eastbourne Borough Council has published a draft Statement of Licensing Policy under the Gambling Act 2005. A three month consultation period ran from 9 June 2006 and closed on 9 September 2006.
The Act requires the council to publish a statement of the principles which it proposes to apply when exercising licensing functions under the Act. It also gives weight to the views of the consultees, who are listed in the Statement.
This Policy Statement must be published at least every three years and be reviewed from time to time and any amended parts will be the subject of re-consultation. The Policy Statement will then be re-published.
This Draft Policy Statement has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 and Guidance issued to Licensing Authorities by the Gambling Commission.
Eastbourne Borough Council, as the Licensing Authority, must carry out its functions with a view to promoting the gambling objectives, and as such, these objectives provide a framework for the Policy Statement.
Each application will be considered on its own individual merits, but due regard will be had to the Act, regulations and Codes Of Practice.
In the drafting and formulation of the Gambling Act Statement, the council must consult widely on the proposal, obtaining comments from those defined as Responsible Authorities, Interested Parties and businesses in the Borough.
Following consultation, the Statement will be revised where appropriate, published and adopted within specified timescales.
