In August 2005 the council commissioned SMSR Ltd, an independent research company, to undertake a consultation with local residents on their views and opinion on various budget issues. The results of the consultation influenced decisions on priorities when the budget was set for 2006/07.
A telephone consultation was conducted with 1,000 residents across all areas of the Borough. In addition 328 self completion questionnaires were carried out. A number of electronic responses were received.
