Youth Forums

Young people in Eastbourne

The Youth Forum and the Junior Youth Forums are designed to offer young people the chance to have their say on leisure activities and events happening in Eastbourne.

This ensures that the activities available for young people in Eastbourne are youth-led and meet the needs and wants of its target community.

Junior Youth Forum (JYF)

The JYF is open to young people in years 5 and 6 which is currently in development. We meet three times an academic year and if you attend two of these, you qualify for a free UK day-out in the summer holidays to wherever the JYF would like to go. A previous example being Thorpe Park.

The Junior Youth Forum will be taking up the Youth Clock that is located in the Town Centre as their project this year. Please see the Youth Clock pages for more information.

Youth Forum (YF)

The YF is open to any young people aged 12-17 from schools, youth clubs, sports clubs, etc. The next Youth Forum meets monthly at Charlie's Youth Centre on Seaside in the Town Centre.

Last year we consulted the YF for an EBC scrutiny report into underage drinking; this feedback has been directed to develop new activities such as the Devotion Club nights. Through thier role as the decision makers for the YouthBank bids for Eastbourne, they have allocated over £80,000 of central government money to youth projects in Eastbourne and will continue this year.

If you would like to be a part of the Youth Forum in Eastbourne, please contact Steve Betts at steve.betts@eastsussex.gov.uk.
