Devonshire Project

Seaside Road
In September 2004 the ESP agreed to develop a pilot project to focus on a specific area of Eastbourne.

The project would include mapping:

  • baseline socio-economic data and a population profile,
  • gaps in services, and
  • what the community wants.

The ESP wanted to choose an area where the project could influence as many people’s lives as possible. We decided to focus on Devonshire Ward and use the Audit Commission's Area Profile model for the project.

The report on the project is available to download below. Due to its size, the data document has been split into three parts.

What Next?

The ESP will use this report to explore:

  • what is being achieved in the area,
  • whether the partnership is making the best use of resources to solve particular problems, and
  • whether existing resources could be put to different use to improve and speed up the process of making a difference.

This study will also provide lessons in joint working that could be rolled out to the benefit of other neighbourhoods and communities in Eastbourne.
