Activating Eastbourne is the Regeneration and Economy sub-partnership of the Eastbourne Strategic Partnership.

Objectives

Activating Eastbourne has a twofold approach by tackling unemployment and promoting job creation.   

Unemployment

• To bring together all local organisations involved in giving information, advice and guidance to local unemployed people to help them obtain employment by sharing information and encouraging greater partnership working between organisations; and

• Be an active voice for unemployed people to challenge the barriers to employment.

Promoting Job Creation

• Encouraging new enterprises;

• Encouraging existing enterprises to grow;

• Encouraging employers to take advantage of national and local initiatives to recruit unemployed people; and

• Encouraging employers to efficiently use their workforce to maximise profit and create new opportunities for employees.

For 2012, the Partnership's ambitions include:

• The approval of a Worklessness Strategy for the Partnership to deliver and monitor;

• Launching a one stop website directory to act as a central point of information for job seekers and employers;
• Holding a Job Creation Breakfast;

• Composing six monthly local Labour Market Information reports; 

• Organising a second Eastbourne's Big Week of Work; and
• Working with Morrisons to help secure local jobs for local people.
