Equality and Diversity

Eastbourne's community is made up of different people who in turn have individual needs, requirements and expectations.

It is the Council's responsibility to ensure that it delivers services in ways that promote equality of opportunity and meet the needs of the local community.

The Council has completed a Best Value Review of Equalities. It was presented to the Scrutiny Committee as a report in June 2002.

The Council also has a:

• Comprehensive Equality Policy

• Race Equality Scheme

• Corporate Equality Action Plan

• Disability Equality Scheme (DES)

• Gender Equality Scheme (The action plan for the Gender Equality Scheme is currently being reviewed and will be available shortly).
