Lead Agency

East Sussex Drug and Alcohol Action Team

Working Group

Eastbourne, Wealden and Lewes Substance Misuse Action Group

Substance misuse is commonly defined as the misuse of drugs and alcohol. Both can have a significant effect on criminal and anti-social behaviour and they cause great damage to local communities.

The partnership will be tackling drug-related crime through links with the East Sussex Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT).  The DAAT brings together representatives of all the local agencies involved in tackling the misuse of drugs and alcohol, including:

  • the Primary Care Trusts

  • Local Authorities

  • Police

  • Probation and Social Services

  • Education and Youth Services

  • the voluntary sector

The DAAT works with Crime Reduction Partnerships to help the police and communities tackle local drug and alcohol problems and associated crime.

The DAAT is responsible for delivering the Government's National Drug Strategy "Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain" and the National Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy.
