Anonymity

Crimestoppers' unique feature is the total anonymity of the caller.  Its policy is to ensure the protection of the caller at all times. No-one calling the Crimestoppers national telephone number - 0800 555 111 - is asked for their name and address. No calls are traced and no calls are recorded.

Every month Crimestoppers receive an average of 6,000 calls which leads to 500 arrests and the recovery of stolen property, firearms and illegal drugs.

Every day around 17 people are arrested and charged as a result of information given to Crimestoppers. Every five days, somebody is charged with murder or attempted murder following calls to Crimestoppers.
