What is a Community Safety Partnership?

Shaking hands in partnership

The Government recognised that the Police could not effectively tackle crime alone and for the first time introduced legislation requiring other agencies to work with the Police.

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 gave responsibility to a number of statutory bodies to work with the Police to tackle and reduce crime.

The Community safety Partnership, formerly known as Crime Reduction Partnerships, involve statutory and voluntary agencies who, working together, have proved that effective partnership working does reduce crime.
