Willingdon Trees Community Centre

From January 2010 the Trees Community Association is taking over the running of Willingdon Trees Community Centre looking to encourage a new social interaction and healthy living.

The Trees Community Association now looks after all bookings currently taking place at the centre with the programme of activities being planned for the centre aiming to bring the community together.

The original centre was opened in March 1981, but after the centre was badly damaged by fire on May 4th 1999, resulting in nearly 50% damage to the building, it was demolished. The building that now occupies the site was erected and officially opened on March 13th 2002.

The Association is classed as a Charity and all the members on the committee are all volunteers. The association has, in the last year, secured funding that enabled them to host a summer Arts, Dance and Sport Project, Christmas Party and produced their own independent news letter.  The association also works on a membership scheme where members get reduced hire rates and other advantages.

Facilities

The centre consists of a main hall, meeting room and kitchen facilities all for hire. It has toilet facilities, a garden and disabled access to all the facilities.
