Town Centre Management

Terminus Road during the day

The Eastbourne Town Centre Management Initiative (TCMI) is a partnership between the private sector and Eastbourne Borough Council. It was originally set up in 1994 to address the competitive threat posed by out of town retail parks.

The TCMI has become a significant voice in maintaining and improving the role of the town centre to both visitor and resident alike.

The Town Centre Manager post which provides a link between the private sector and the council on all aspects of business in the town centre is funded by the TCMI who also act as a lobbying voice for town centre businesses.  The team has also been leading the strategic thinking behind the proposed town centre regeneration scheme.

The proposal of a Business Improvement District (BID) for the town centre is another initiative of TCMI's to harness the resources of all business to enhance and promote the area in the run up to the town centre regeneration scheme.

Evolve is the name given to the group of businesses who are promoting the concept.
