Controlling Health Risks from Using UV Tanning Equipment
If you operate UV tanning equipment, a guidance document from the HSE outlines the requirements you must meet, and provides information for your customers on the health risks of using the equipment.
The British Medical Association (BMA) has issued detailed advice about the health risks of using sunbeds and advise people not to use them at all, or if they do use them, to limit their use to no more than two courses - or 10 sessions - a year.
Cancer Research UK and The Sunbed Association (TSA), which represents about a quarter of the UK's 8,000 tanning salons, are calling for children under 16 to be banned from using sunbeds due to the high risk of skin cancer in later years.
