Eastbourne Business Crime Group

The Eastbourne Business Crime Group (EBCG) is a partnership between the local business community, Eastbourne Borough Council and Sussex Police.

The group was formed in April 2003 and now boasts over 180 members from both the day and night time economies including:

• Retailers;

• Licensee’s;

• Education services;

• Security companies;

• Eastbourne Railway Station; and

• Taxi companies.

The EBCG has its own management structure, with elected Chairpersons and a written constitution.

It has a data protection registration and Professional Indemnity insurance cover. 

The EBCG has been awarded with the Safer Business Award from the Association of Business Crime Partnerships.  

Objectives

• To exclude persistent offenders from all members premises;

• To protect staff from physical and verbal abuse;

• To work in partnership and reduce crime;

• To reduce theft from business premises;

• To make Eastbourne a safer place to shop, work and live; and

• To send warning letters out to offenders committing offences of any nature in the night time economy.
