Business Campaign - Think Again

A 'Think Again' advertising campaign in the national press was aimed at businesses and employers, to raise awareness of the places where the new smokefree legislation applies.

Messages in the national press advertising from January 2007 onwards for employers and staff include:

  • Think the new smokefree legislation only applies to pubs? Think again.
  • Think the new smokefree legislation only applies to restaurants? Think again. Smoking will be off the menu in workplaces too.
  • Think the new smokefree legislation only applies to office workers? Think again.
  • Think the new smokefree legislation only applies to public buildings? Think again. From 1 July 2007, it will be against the law to smoke in virtually all enclosed workplaces.
Smokefree Vehicles Publicity Poster
Follow up press and radio publicity during May and June 2007 focussed on what businesses need to do, and in particular highlighting:

  • From 1 July 2007 it will be against the law to have a smoking room
  • From 1 July 2007 it will be against the law for your employees to smoke in your work vehicles

Public Information Campaign

A public information campaign was launched on 14 May 2007, to remind the public what the legislation will mean, with a range of TV adverts, posters and press adverts.

This follows on from the Secondhand Smoke - The Invisible Killer public campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the reasons for the new legislation - to protect everyone's health. See Related Pages for the Invisible Killer publicity.
