Introduction to Our Plan
Our Health and Safety Team has prepared a Health and Safety Service Plan for the financial years 2010/2013. It includes a three year programme of activity which can be found in Appendix 1.
Section 18 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 requires Local Authorities to set out their priorities, a plan of interventions and how these will be targeted to maximise their impact.
To meet this requirement each Local Authority should prepare a written service plan that sets out an annual, or two year or more, rolling plan that is reviewed annually.
What We Do
The team visit and inspect local businesses and aim to use their time with these businesses to the best effect. During these visits they advise business owners about recent changes in their legal responsibilities regarding health and safety.
Our officers also take action to deal with any deficiencies in business operations, where they may be putting the well-being of employees or customers at risk.
