Good health and safety is vital to good business. Health and safety does not have to be complicated, however the laws do apply to all businesses no matter how small, and are in place to protect you, your employees and the public from workplace dangers.
Eastbourne Borough Council has responsibility to ensure that Health and Safety legislation is complied with in your business.
Our Small Business Advice Pack
We do not need to carry out a health and safety inspection of some workplaces or of some work activities as the risks involved are classed as low risk. For instance we do not normally inspect newsagents, small retail shops, offices and some commercial units.
However, if we receive a complaint or an accident report relating to a business mentioned above we may decide to inspect it.

Our Business Advice Pack ‘Health and Safety Advice for Small Businesses’ provides basic health and safety advice to help businesses comply with the law and manage health and safety hazards.
