RIDDOR - Accident Reporting
Under RIDDOR, all employers have a legal duty to report certain types of accidents and incidents.
In this section you can find out which types of work-related accidents need to be reported, including when you need to report accidents to the public.
Report an Accident Online
If you need to report an accident, you can complete a report online on the HSE website using the link from this page.
Fatal and Major Injuries
All incidents can be reported online, but there is a telephone service for reporting fatal and major injuries only - call the Incident Contact Centre on 0845 300 9923 (opening hours Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm).
The HSE and local authority enforcement officers are not an emergency service. For more information on when, and how, to report very serious or dangerous incidents, go to Contacting HSE Out of Hours using the link from this page.
