You can download a summary of customer feedback for the project in PDF format below

Evaluation of the results and outcomes of the Bar and Cellar Safety project by the council's Environmental Health team with our partners including Sussex Police and ESFRS.

Outcomes for Local Pubs and Clubs

  • Total number of bar and cellar safety inspections: 77, which equates to 44 per cent of our total number of visits for the 2009-10 period.

  • In some cases revisits to check on progress were necessary.

Measures of Success

  • Total number of employees positively affected: 533, which represents 1.4 per cent of the workforce in Eastbourne. This also represents 533 employee accidents, and countless accidents to members of the public that may have been prevented via our officers advice and education and the proprietors commitment to make their workplace safer.

  • With regard to violence in the workplace, noise at work and fire safety the total number of premises that had risk assessed these topics included:

    • Violence 40 (52 per cent)

    • Noise 38 (49 per cent)

    • Fire 45 (58 per cent)

  • Total number of combined food and health and safety inspections: 14, which equates to 18 per cent of our total number of visits for this project. This approach saves the business and the team time.
