Better Backs - Advice for Employees

Better Backs Campaign Website
The Better Backs campaign aims to reduce work-related back pain and change attitudes about back problems and returning to work.

Look After Your Back

Every year, thousands of people suffer from back pain at work.

Whatever your job, look after your back.

There are simple steps you can take to keep your back healthy:

  • taking exercise and staying active
  • using lifting and handling aids
  • checking your posture

If you have back pain, resting for more than a couple of days will not aid your recovery. Trying to reduce the pain by avoiding your daily activities can lead to a much longer recovery time and long-term back problems.

The sooner you get back to normal activity the better. Staying active is unlikely to damage your back, but see your doctor if the pain persists or suddenly gets worse.
