Business rates bills are also adjusted based on reliefs and transitional arrangements.

The National Non-Domestic Rating Multiplier is set by the Government. The rating changes from the 1 April every year.
The amount by which the multiplier increases is controlled by law. It cannot be more than the amount of the retail price index [a key measure of inflation]. The exception is in a re-evaluation year when it can increase by more than the retail price index.
