The council is proposing a new policy and approach on street trading, but currently it is restricted within Eastbourne, with many streets designated ‘prohibited streets’ under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.
In general terms it is currently an offence for any person to engage in street trading in a designated area without the council's agreement.
