Street Trading Consent

The council is proposing a new policy and approach on street trading, but currently it is restricted within Eastbourne, with many streets designated ‘prohibited streets’ under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

Proposed New Policy - Re-designation of Consent Streets

The council is currently reviewing its Street Trading position, and is looking to revise and amend its consent and prohibiited streets within the Borough. On 22 February 2012, it passed a resolution to consult on the propsals and consider any representations as part of the statutory process.

Consultation Public Notice 20 April 2012

Your views on the proposals are welcome, but must be submitted no later than 28 days after 20 April 2012.

You can download a copy of the Public Notice in PDF format below, published in the Eastbourne Herald on 20th April 2012, which gives more details and where to send your representations.

If the Council, after considering any representations, proceed to pass the resolution, the re designation will come into force on 25 August 2012.

Current Policy - Apply for Street Trading Consent

Under our current policy, extensive consultation is required before a consent can be issued. Only applicants who fulfill all necessary criteria will be issued with this consent.
