If you want to carry out a charitable collection on the street in Eastbourne you must apply to the council for permission.
Applying for a Licence
Applications are considered annually and normally have to be submitted by early December of the previous year.
The council allocates street collection days to individual organisations.
The deadline for applications for street collections in the following year is 1 December.
We will not normally consider any further applications for the year after this date, but for late applications some dates may still available.
You can download an application form below.
Legal Requirements
It is illegal to hold a collection in a street or public place to collect money for the benefit of charitable or other purposes, without first obtaining a Street Collection Licence.
The purpose of the legal requirement to obtain consent is to ensure collectors are properly authorised and that money is collected in a secure way and the total proceeds collected are properly accounted for.
This requirement applies to all organisations who collect from a street or public highway. It does not apply to private land.
You can download the council's Street Collection Regulations below.
