Guidance on Plans for Premises Licences

You need to enclose plans of your premises with applications for the following types of alcohol and entertainment licence under the Licensing Act 2003:

  • new premises or club premises certificates
  • structural variations to premises licences and club certificates
  • applications for a provisional licence statement for new premises

Plans need to be drawn to a scale of 1:100 - 1 centimetre representing 100 centimetres.

If plans are already in existence drawn to alternative scales these may be acceptable; before sending us your application, please contact our Licensing Manager to confirm.

How Many Copies are Needed?

You need 10 copies of the plans in total. You must send:

  • Two copies with your application to the Council's Licensing Team (the Licensing Authority). One of these will be returned when the licence is issued; this must then be available on your premises at all times for inspection
  • a copy to each of the seven local Responsible Authorities (two copies to the Fire Authority)

For a list of contact addresses, go to Where to Send Your Application under Related Pages.
