When Do You Need a Personal Licence?
- if you are designated as the premises supervisor on a premises licence where alcohol is to be sold (on-sales, off-sales, or restaurant)
- if you want to sell alcohol under a premises licence or authorise others to sell alcohol under a premises licence
- if you want to use more than 5 Temporary Event Notices a year
There must always be one person who can be identified for the sale or supply of alcohol at places which have a premises licence. More than one person can hold a personal licence, but it is not necessary for every person on the premises to hold one.
Applicants must be at least 18 and not have forfeited a personal licence in the previous 5 years. A personal licence is the property of the holder and is valid anywhere that has a Premises Licence in England and Wales.
How Long Will It Take to Get a Licence?
You will need to allow time and money for getting an approved training course and obtaining documents before sending us your application.
The Licensing Act 2003 gives the licensing authority up to two months to process applications, from the date a complete application is received.
What Do You Need to Send to Us?
You do not need to send anything to the police.
