Select a licence type for forms to apply in Eastbourne for new personal, premises or club premises licences, issued under the Licensing Act 2003 for alcohol, entertainment and late night refreshment.
All Premises Need New Licences from 24 November 2005
The Licensing Act 1964 has now been replaced by the Licensing Act 2003. Whatever the original expiry date shown on liquor licences under the 1964 Act - for example 2007 - all licences expired on 24 November 2005.
If you are selling alcohol and have not applied for and been granted a licence from the council under the new system, you are unlicensed and operating illegally.
The transitional period ended on 6 August 2005, and you can no longer apply to convert or vary existing licences held under the Licensing Act 1964. This also applies to public entertainment, theatre, cinema and late night refreshment house licences previously issued by the Council.
You Cannot Trade Without a Licence
You need to apply for new licences under the Licensing Act 2003 using the forms in this section, which will take a minimum of 28 days to process before you can sell or supply alcohol, or provide entertainment or late night hot food.
If objections (representations) are made about your application and a committee hearing is necessary, it will be longer before a licence can be issued.
It is an offence to carry on licensable activities without a new licence, for which you will be prosecuted.
