When Can You Use Temporary Event Notices?
See the link under Related Pages for:
when you need a Temporary Event Notice
limitations on using TENs - capacity, number of events and duration
when you need a premises licence instead, including larger events
What Do You Need to Send to Us?
2 copies of the application form, at least ten working days before the event will start. We recommend sending notice much earlier than this where possible.
A cheque for the fee of £21, payable to Eastbourne Borough Council
You also need to send a copy of the application form to the Police - see Where to Send Your Application Forms, in Related Pages.
Notices can be submitted by post, courier or hand. It is best to deliver notices by hand where possible. The fee should be included with the copies delivered to the council (Licensing Authority).
Unlike a Premises Licence, you do not have to advertise your application, and, if alcohol is to be sold, you do not also need to have a personal licence.
You can send a series of Temporary Event Notices together (for an academic year, for example) provided that the first of the events is at least ten working days from the sending date.
How Will Your Application be Dealt With?
We will acknowledge Temporary Event Notices, by returning one copy of your notice, suitably authorised, subject to no objections being received.
Only the police can object to a Temporary Event Notice, on the grounds of crime and disorder. If they do object, the event cannot go ahead unless it is possible to find a solution by negotiation.
The police have 48 hours to object to notices. If they do, a hearing will be held within 7 working days of the deadline, on a date set by the council.
