• Food Safety - It’s in Your Hands (external link) - a series of short films on food safety coaching to support food business operators (FBOs). The videos are about a minute long and include an introduction and 10 instructional videos covering the '4 Cs' of food hygiene - cleaning, cross-contamination, cooking and chilling.

Our Local Business Events

The council's Environmental Health service runs local events and initiatives to help support food businesses in Eastbourne.

• High 5 for Top Rated Businesses - local media coverage and photos on Facebook from our recent publicity event to celebrate and promote the success of local businesses top rated 5 'very good' in the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme

Talks to local business groups by our Environmental Health Officers have included:

• a talk to local care home managers on the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme

• a talk on preventing back pain and slips and falls in catering to Chinese catering workers in Eastbourne, at one of their social meetings held at Parklands Infant School

• a talk to Sussex Care Homes Association about the importance of management systems in food safety

• a free food safety awareness training session in Portuguese to approximately 20 Ward Assistants at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
