The education system in England is in the midst of the biggest change since 1902 and Eastbourne is to pilot these changes.
The purpose is to encourage more young people to continue in learning for longer and to gain qualifications and skills that they need to progress through the education system or into employment.
The reform includes the introduction of new Diplomas. They are qualifications created by employers working alongside teachers to equip young people with the skills they need for further education, employment or training.
The Diplomas in construction, engineering, IT, creative and media, and society health and development are available from September 2008 in East Sussex.
The education system cannot work in isolation if it is to deliver these qualifications effectively. The Eastbourne Education Business Partnership is looking to build on the good work that is already going on in partnership between the education sector and the business community.
