A £65 million plan to transform the Arndale Centre was revealed in July 2011.
The development is a private sector proposal from a company called Performance Retail Limited Partnership in which Legal & General have a majority share.
If approved, the western wing to the centre will be redesigned with the whole section of Terminus Road from the existing entrance to the end of the road closest to the train station.
This new makeover will bring around 20 new stores and 500 new jobs.
A public consultation on the proposals is expected in the autumn 2011 with a planning application potentially being put to the Council in early 2012.
The target opening date is in 2015.
