Economic Development is a strategic and operational team, working in partnership to meet the objectives set out in the Sustainable Community Strategy.

Key Projects
The core deliverables of the Economic Development Team in 2010/11 are:

Coordinate the artwork in empty shops and continue to audit retail units in the town centre

Audit industrial estate units

Work at a sub-regional level to deliver the Worklessness Assessment and Action Plan and the Local Economic Assessment

Forward plan the deliverability of an Economic Development Strategy for the Borough and a Work and Skills Plan

Provide support to deliver the Town Centre Area Action Plan and be a consultee

Coordinate the Worklessness Group, a thematic partnership of the Eastbourne Strategic Partnership

Provide funding to Eastbourne & District Enterprise Agency Ltd to support new businesses

Provide funding to Locate East Sussex to promote East Sussex and Eastbourne as a business location

Coordinate the Future Jobs Fund on behalf of Eastbourne Borough Council

Coordinate the Eastbourne Credit Crunch Task Group

Act as the lead contact between Eastbourne Borough Council Officers and VT Enterprise and engage in work related student activities

Manage inward investment enquiries

Comment on planning applications relating to employment space

Assist local business in expanding or relocating within the Borough

Support to deliver the Local Development Framework. In particular the Employment Land Review.

Launch ‘The Guide to Eastbourne: A place to work, live and visit’

Coordinate the Overseas Student Advisory Committee
