Since we have many Freedom of Information requests of a similar nature during the course of the year, we now create a standard report.  This will be updated on a monthly basis.

This report includes all business rate accounts, any reliefs applicable to the accounts and any credits applicable.  New business rate liabilities are shown in the first column and indicated with a 'Y'.

As we create this report monthly, we will not continue to provide individual responses to requests during the year, or for similar information.  Any such requests will be politely declined.

The information has been screened to remove the names of sole-traders as this data is exempt from disclosure under Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000; however, their business addresses are shown.  Account references are not included as these are personal to the account.

Under the Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency, authorities are required to publish their constitution on their websites.

We have launched a scheme for councillors and their communities.  Each ward has been given £10,000 to spend on quick fix one-off works or initiatives to improve the lives of residents within each of the nine council wards.

Equality analysis allows us to understand and take account of the different needs of our customers and staff, adapting the way we do things as a consequence.

The Local Government transparency code 2015 requires that a Local Authority publishes social housing stock at postal code level (e.g. BN20 3**, BN21 2**) except where the stock number in that post code is lower than 2,500. In these situations, in order to ensure that individual properties cannot be identified, councils are obliged to publish at a higher post code level (e.g. BN21).

The data is based on the valuations by Wilkes Head & Eve in 2011. The market values are in the opinion of the valuers the best sale price that could be obtained for the property at the time of valuation. The adjusted Existing Use Value – Social Housing (EUV-SV) represents the assumption that the properties have sitting tenants with potentially below market value rents and statutory rights such as right to buy.

The valuations are not an indication or suggestion that tenancies should be ended to realise the market value.
