How to Vote

You must be registered to be able to vote, and there are various ways to make your vote. 

If you want to change how you vote, you can now use our online form to change your voting method.

Vote in Person

You can vote in person at a polling station. For more information, go to:

Absent Voting

You can vote in an election without going to a polling station.  You do not need to wait until an election is being held to apply for a postal or proxy vote and you can apply up until 11 days before an election.

Vote by Post

You need to apply to vote by post. For more information and to apply, go to:

If you are unable to get to the polling station, you can appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf.

Emergency Proxy Vote

You can apply for an emergency proxy vote up until 5 pm on polling day if you have a medical emergency that took place after the sixth day before an election.  You must give a reason why you need to vote by proxy and a qualified person must support your application.  Contact us for more information.
