How to Register

You need to be on the Electoral Register with your up-to-date details in order to vote.

Have Your Details Recently Changed?

Between October and February next year we will carry out a canvass of all households in Eastbourne.  You will receive a registration form which you should complete and return as soon as possible.

During the rest of the year the register is updated monthly. If you have changed address since completing your annual canvass form, or your name does not appear on the register or you have moved, download a voter registration form from About My Vote website.

Why Should You Register?

  • The information is required by law

  • If you are not registered, you cannot vote in elections

  • You may find it difficult to get credit, loans, a mortgage or bank account as the register is used by credit reference agencies

Who can register to vote?

  • Person must be a resident in the electoral area

  • Person must be a British or commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Irish Republic or other state of the European Union

  • Person must be 18 or over during the life of the registering period

  • Person must not be subject to any legal incapacity to vote
