Speaking at Council Meetings

Anyone has the right to attend and speak at most meetings of the Council on issues listed on the agenda for that meeting.

Make a Request to Speak

Except for Planning Committee and Licensing Act Sub-Committee (see below), you can submit a request online to speak at committee, or by e-mailing us at localdemocracy@eastbourne.gov.uk. You must submit your request by midday two working days before the meeting.  For example, if the meeting is on a Wednesday, the request should be sent by midday on Monday.

Planning Committee and Licensing Act Sub Committees  

The Planning Committee and Licensing Act Sub Committees have different procedures for speaking:

  • How to Comment on Planning Applications at Planning Committee - You can comment online on an open planning application and register to speak at Planning Committee. If you would like further advice please contact us. Guidance on addressing the Planning Committee can be downloaded below.

Ask Questions at Public Meetings

Anyone can ask a public question at meetings of the Cabinet and most other council meetings, except Full Council and the Planning Committee.

You can submit a public question online or by e-mailing us at localdemocracy@eastbourne.gov.uk. Your question must be submitted by midday two working days before date of the meeting where you want your question to be considered.
